When Atheists Attack

Warning: Sam Harris (author of "The End of Faith" and "Letter to a Christian Nation" and founder of The Reason Project; as opposed to The Truth Project by the Christian group Focus on the Family) is part of the "New Atheists" movement. He is also one of the movements most active and embraced (by the media "elite") members.

I am only making this post to show how far we have fell from the truth of God as a nation. Please read Sam's Newsweek article (dated Sept. 29, 2008) and also watch Dr. Mohler's lecture series on the "The New Atheism" from the W. H. Griffith Thomas Memorial Lectureship (Spring 2008) at Dallas Theological Seminary.

In this article, Harris calls into question the worthiness of Sarah Palin to be in the next Vice President of the United States. While he spends a small amount of time on her lack of national experience (note that he didn't point out that Obama has the same void on his resume) and her limited world traveler status, the bulk of his rant focuses on his belief that she is unfit to hold the office due to her being a Christian. He not only presents the belief that she is unworthy, but that all people of faith should be eliminated from serious consideration to hold the highest offices in the land. An office that only the "Elites" (as defined by Sam as religious dissidents and public intellectuals) ought to be entrusted with.

And by the way, what makes them (religious dissidents and public intellectuals) think that they are "Elite"? Is it because many of them sat like drones in front of a God hating, Volvo driving, tree hugging, organic food eating, same-sex loving, PETA joining, gun banning, resentful, out-casted, Darwin believing, group of professors for six or more years and managed to parrot back the garbage that they were being told? I guess it might be a little unfair for someone to stereotype a whole group like that. (Does anyone see the parallel here?)

We are heading into new waters. More and more the anti-Christian voice is being proclaimed across this country with a secular / "elitist" media and an indoctrinated educational system providing the constant platform. Harris and his "New Atheists" cronies (Dawkins, Hitchens, Maher, & Dennett just to name a few) want to cast Christians as being dangerous to society. A completely inverted perversion of the truth is often the modus operandi of Satan an his pawns. Good is bad, and bad is good.

Let's not kid ourselves, there is a spiritual battle being waged. Not only in the past and in the future to come, but in the here and now as well. There is no doubt, however, that God is in control of all things. And all things will work for good for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Someday every knee will bow and every tongue will confess - "Jesus is Lord". Even the knee and tongue of the self-proclaimed atheist / "elitist", Sam Harris.

I pray that he will turn from his current unrepentant path, and fall at the foot of the cross. May it be sooner rather than later.

Let me confess that I was genuinely unnerved by Sarah Palin's performance at the Republican convention. Given her audience and the needs of the moment, I believe Governor Palin's speech was the most effective political communication I have ever witnessed. Here, finally, was a performer who—being maternal, wounded, righteous and sexy—could stride past the frontal cortex of every American and plant a three-inch heel directly on that limbic circuit that ceaselessly intones "God and country."
