Global Governance?

(Above Fox News host Glenn Beck and his guest discuss issues concerning global governance.)

Question: Does the Bible prophesy a one-world government and a one-world currency in the end times?

Answer: The Bible does not use the phrase “one-world government” or “one-world currency” in referring to the end times. It does, however, provide ample evidence to enable us to draw the conclusion that both will exist under the rule of the Antichrist in the last days. (Continued Here)

Personal Note: It is certainly obvious that I am a premillennialist (meaning that I believe that the 1,000 years spoken of in Revelation 20 will occur after the second coming of Christ, and that it will be a literal 1,000 year period in which He will rule on the earth). I do believe that life situations and events on this earth are going to progressively get worse until the return of Christ (Matthew 24:4-8; Matthew 24:21, 22). While many of the faithful have suffered persecution throughout the ages, the big difference that the future will bring is that the suffering and catastrophe will be on a global scale (Revelation 8:6-13; Revelation 9:13-21; Revelation 13:7-9). However, this does not mean that I am a "doom and gloomer". In fact, for the Christian the "birth pangs" which are occurring prior to the Great Tribulation, should bring out four reactions from us during this present age. It ought to encourage godly living, create an even stronger desire for us to share the truth of the gospel with the lost world, foster fellowship among Christians, and it should increase our excitement for the blessed hope of the appearing of Christ (1 John 3:2, 3; Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Titus 2:11-13).

I do believe that things in this world are going to get very bad soon. However, those who have trusted in Christ as their Lord and Savior, will be spared from the Great Tribulation (this is a specific period of time - not simply persecution; Believer's from all ages have suffered from being persecuted) via the merciful rapture of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:10). Additionally, Christian's can look forward to the the millennial kingdom of Christ and the eternal New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21:1-7). There we will dwell with God forever. Life will be infinitely better!

When dealing with the second coming of Christ, let us not be like those foolish men who were slow to believe the literal prophecies pertaining to Christ's first coming (Luke 24:25, 26; Matthew 16:1-3). While we may not know the exact hour of His coming for the Church (after which will begin the Great Tribulation) (1 Thessalonians 5:2), we are told to be on the alert and discern the season and when it draws near (Mark 13:23-37; Revelation 1:3). Let us discern the signs of the times in hopeful anticipation! Christians around the globe should echo the words of the Apostle John when he said, "Come, Lord Jesus" (Revelation 22:20).
